Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Nicola Marshall
It was a quiet night at Goodgym tonight with just Maurice & Nicola but we didn’t let that stop us from having a hearty dose of Goodgym goodness.
We started our evening with a brisk walk through Joey The Swan. It was a lovely evening but after the recent rain and walking through the long grass, we did end up with wet feet!! However, the rain managed to stay off while were out, so that was a bonus. We did a circular route, totalling approximately 2km and met one or two friendly faces (their owners were quite pleasant too!), along the way.
For tonight’s task, we were back helping out at Motherwell. We always enjoy our tasks there and this one was no different as we had the enjoyable job of planting tomato plants and herbs into compost bags and planters. With only the 2 of us, it kept us busy for the evening and we had a good chat as we worked. We got 29 tomato plants planted and 11 different herb plants including mint, sage, rosemary, thyme, fennel and oregano.
Rain threatened at one point but in true Goodgym fashion, it held off and we managed to get all the plants in without getting wet! Only the plants got a good dousing of water once we set the watering can on them!
It was a lovely evening and very satisfying to see all the plants in their new homes. I hope the tomato plants reap lots of fruit and that the herbs flourish. But most of all, we hope the service users enjoy tending to them and eating them!
Well done team of two!
Have a great week. Lots of love, Nicola xx
