12 perspirating Goodgymmers proved that they can stand the heat as they lent a hand at the Wood Green Traid tonight.

Maudlin Corner

Tonight marked three years since I took over as the trainer/AA/resident Gramps at GGHaringey and I just want to say thanks to all of you for putting up with me! <3

Now let's jump straight to it before I cry....

Sweat Dreams (Are Made Of This)!

In a night that reverberated with naked abandon, carefree shenanigans, and hot fashion, our Goodgymmers joined the lovely staff at Traid for their quarterly turnover.

We're old hands at this task by now so very little supervision was needed.

Our Goodgymmers helped take all the clothes off the hangers, pack it away in the industrial-sized cardboard boxes and also pack all the hangers away for good measure.

Along the way, Sarah amused herself with a rude Shakespearean insults book she found in the for sale pile, Niamh and Alex led the group in a sizzling rendition of Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This), and Gramps in no way regretted sharing with the group that he's running a naked 5k race later this year.

Before you could say hawwt hawwwt hawwwwt, our Goodgymmers were done for the evening so we took our customary selfies and headed for the closest watering hole to cool down after a hot job well done.

STOP THE PRESS!

We have a brand new task next week, helping out the Friends of Finsbury Park with a plethora of tasks. And we are then having our summer Social Extravaganza at Rowans afterwards. You must definitely join us for that!

Finally, fuck sweatshops and up the workers!

Peace

TRAID (Textile Reuse and International Development) is a UK charity working to tackle and solve the problems caused by producing, consuming and disposing of clothes. We do this by providing convenient ways for the public to reuse clothes while delivering education to people of all ages to raise awareness of the powerful environmental and social benefits of reducing our clothing footprint. The funds we raise are committed to global projects benefiting the people and places making our clothes. The work we support aims to improve environmental and social outcomes from supporting cotton farmers grow organic cotton to helping retailers to eliminate child labour in their supply chains. Most of the funds are raised through our charity shops, and in order to do so, we hold five Sale periods a year across our eleven branches, these last approximately 2-3 weeks. The last day of the Sale, after closing time, we need to pack the leftovers and leave the shop clear for it to be restocked the following day, here is where your teams can be of much help.
