Report written by Nicola Marshall
Today is the summer solstice – the longest day in the calendar year, so it was great to be outside for our task this evening. It had been showery all day, with lots of heavy downpours, which left me wondering whether it would hold off for our gardening task. Luckily it did with just a very small attempt at a shower, but it didn’t amount to anything. And to be honest, what rain we did feel was welcomed as it was very warm and muggy.
Tonight, we were back at the Wishing Well. We haven’t been there for a while, so it was nice to see the progress in the raised beds. Someone had been busy planting lettuces, beetroots, courgettes, and sunflowers. The beds were looking super healthy, and it was really lovely to see.
Before we set to work with our task for the evening, we headed out for our exercise session. For various reasons, we opted for a walk as opposed to a run tonight and it was lovely to be able to have a good natter as we enjoyed the fresh air. We walked 1.5 miles in total and covered a lot of ground – verbally as well as physically!!
Back at the Wishing Well, we got stuck in to getting the garden looking a bit smarter. Kimberley set to work with the lawnmower, Maurice set to work with the loppers and the strimmer while Karen & Nicola tackled the weeds on the path. I think Kimberley was in her element with the lawnmower because as she explained, at home, hubby takes care of the mowing (I think she quite enjoyed being let loose!). And what a cracking job she did too! The results of our labours really were evident, and the garden was looking much smarter when we left than when we arrived. It’s always nice to see a real difference in the before and after pictures when you’ve done a task like this.
Well done everyone on another great task. You were amazing as always and I loved being with you all.
Have a great week. Lots of love, Nicola xx
