Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Elizabeth
For the third and last mission that I shared with Abi this weekend, we headed to Lambeth for a mission for Mr S. This gave me the opportunity to check out Clapham's latest attraction en route (see photos), which I'd read about just a couple of days ago. I'm feeling very hip/in the know about it 😎
Mr S is currently in hospital. In order to be released home, he needs a hospital bed installed. However, in order for this to happen, some space needed to be made in his home by dismantling and removing a double bed and removing a bedside cabinet. This is where GoodGym came in to help!
Abi and I were welcomed into Mr S's home by his son, Junior, with all of us arriving within a minute or so of each other. In a relatively short amount of time, we'd all worked together to shift the bedside cabinet out of the room and the mattress out onto the street.
The next task was to dismantle the bed. That's where Abi and I really came into our element; me flashing my fancy screwdriver with glee, and Abi using her expert eye to gauge the exact size of Allen key needed. All of those GoodGym missions are obviously helping Abi to develop niche (but handy) life skills, while helping me develop my narcissism. Regardless, we'd finished dismantling the bed within 15 minutes of our start time and Junior was messaging some family members to see if they wanted it before he placed it outside for the council (true recycling in action).
Junior seemed very appreciative of our help (we were offered ice cream!! 😄😍), and we left glad that just a few minutes of our time had helped enable his father to come home 😊
Enjoy the rest of your weekend (and GoodGym missions), Abi, and thank you for the chocolate sheep! 😄🐑
