Four goodgymer's met at New Earswick Primary School to support the staff with their Twilight session. They asked for our help with building a wooden teepee structure.
When Becky and I arrived, Martin and John had already gotten stuck in to the task! They quickly showed us the ropes (wood) and we started to build the other side. John suggested it should be race, despite those two already having a clear head start.
John and Martin used their clearly superior macho strength to build their side (wonkily). Whereas Becky and I used skill and patience to build ours with flair. Disclaimer: This was all in jest and no feelings were hurt during the task.
It was a true GoodGym style mission with power tools being used to screw wooden planks into place, whilst perched precariously on wobbly stools.
Once both sides were built, all four of worked together to try and fit the top wooden bar, sawed perfectly to size and hammered in by John whilst Becky, Martin and I supervised. It was a true team effort.
We are a primary school with a high percentage of disadvantaged children. We aim to develop our forest school area to benefit the children of all ages. We have the ideas and resources just need to manpower to help make our vision a reality.
