Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Islington runner
Apparently previously looking good and producing flowers and vegetables, Mrs O's garden was rather overgrown due to external influences and the recent good weather. The aim of the task was to take out the main interlopers and cut the grass to a manageable length.
Under the beady eye of her gorgeous cat, I dug out the stray buddleia and the extensive brambles (ouch - there are no gardening gloves thick enough for this task). Then I gave the lawn an overall strim before attempting a neat cut with a mower. But the blades weren't strong enough for the roots and clumps of grass - so a closer strim was required to make it as neat as possible and to expose the path. I tidied up and Mrs O kindly helped me to bag up all the waste. An hour and a quarter well spent, I think!
