Sam met all the runners apart from Rebecca who was going to meet us at the task before 18:40, so he started his speech earlier and split the team into two as we had a double task tonight.

After the warm-up outside, Sam took Joao and Tim to come with him to Thorlands and meet Simon and Rebecca there whilst Emma led the way to TRAID in Peckham with Louise and Tam.

Since loads of regular GoodGymers were away on holiday or potentially at Glasto plus Taylor Swift releasing her European tour dates for 2024, Sam asked: What type of artist or musician would you be (aka what genre of music would you play)? or What type of music festival would you organise?

Louise was up first and she would produce hard-hitting electronic music. Joao stayed in the same theme, but he would be more of a trance DJ and then also chose to host a 90s rock afternoon festival with electronic music at night. Emma decided she would organise a jazz festival as Tam went with the same, but more chilled. Sam went for alternative electronic music as a festival with Coachella vibes. Finally, Tim knows how to play the harmonica, so he would have a festival dedicated to the instrument.

It's just dust & thorns

We ran together as a group through the back streets of Peckham until Emma took Louise and Tam towards TRAID on Rye Lane and the rest continued towards Denmark Hill and Thorlands.

Emma took Louise and Tam arrived at an almost empty TRAID as the staff had done most of the work, but there was still some clothes to pack away and cleaning to be done, so they offered their services to help with this.

Joao, Sam and Tim met Simon at Thorlands Walled Garden to collect the tools as he showed us the first steps to access the Forest Garden from the Walled Garden.

We went into the Forest Garden to continue where we left off on Saturday. We had to shift and dig out the berberis (thorny bush). It required brute force from the lads as Joao pretty much chopped it out with the mattock. Meanwhile, Rebecca appeared and helped cut back and dig out the nettles. Finally, as a group, they cut back the brambles and tamed the pyracantha (another thorny bush).

With only 40 minutes at Thorlands and a rush back to meet the other group, we had to call it at 19:55 to ensure the tools were put back. We acknowledge that there wouldn't be a Thorlands session for 10 days as Simon is away this weekend. Let's hope we come back to a "not so wild" Thorlands.

Thank You to all the GG-ers

A personal thanks from me to all those who came out tonight! It was great to run together at the start and thank you to Emma for bring back Louise and Tam in time. Both task owners were pleased with what we could get done within the hour or less.

Thank You Simon & TRAID

GoodGym is all about getting fit and doing good! We praise the runners/cyclists/walkers who come to get fit and help out, but we often forget about our task owner. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Simon for staying behind after a long day at Thorlands to ensure we could finish the job we started on Saturday. Also, a thank you to TRAID for letting us in to help them pack away their Spring collection, we'll be back in three months!

As Rebecca also showed up in black, we were perfectly split colour-wise with Team Red tackling TRAID and Team Black at Thorlands!
