Sooo many positives from tonight’s task:

  • Exercise

  • Fresh Air

  • Good banter

  • Laughter

  • Making the streets of Crewe cleaner

  • Feeling good about giving something back to our community

  • And the best bit of all – being in the company of lovely people

We started our evening with a warmup – squats and everything tonight!! I got the impression that Kat was possibly a tad embarrassed about doing this at the side of a busy road (sorry Kat, forgive me for putting you through that!) 😉

We set out on our run - Emily, Kat & Maurice leading the way. We did a circular route that we’ve done once before but not for a while – and we did it in the opposite direction (you know, for a bit of variety 😉).

It was a nice chatty run, catching up as always on one another’s news and events of the week. The weather was dry and relatively mild, so it made for a pleasant run.

Back at our starting point, we set to work with our pickers and our bags. There were so many leaves along the route that had to do a bit of fishing around in certain parts. However, being close to McDonalds, we weren’t short of cups, plastic lids, straws, plastic sauce pots and paper bags! We were all getting a good haul, that's for sure.... Karen’s bag was so heavy it split! We all agreed that litter picking is a favourite task…. you can see the results very quickly, its sociable and it doesn’t take too much brain power – which after a long day at work, is quite welcome. We collected 4 full bags and probably could have done the same again with more time and we definitely could have done more in the daylight!

We deposited our bags next to a bin in readiness for the council to collect them and headed home. We covered 3.3km on our run and a further 2 while picking litter. Goodgym is definitely a good way to combine volunteering with doing good in the community!

Well done team, another fantastic effort and result! As always, feel proud of yourselves for your efforts tonight!

Have a lovely week & hope to see you next week! Lots of love Nicola xx
