Today's mission was to help Ms. A clear some garden waste and general debris from her balcony.

Abi and I arrived at Ms. A's flat just before 7 (Abi sweaty from a run to Ms. A's flat; me sweaty from just general existence). It was Abi's first mission, and I think she was really looking forward to the experience :)

Ms. A immediately gave us the warmest of welcomes into her beautiful flat. She went above and beyond her preparations for our visit (including some plastic booties to help protect her new carpet). She was totally on the ball! (Requiste football reference now made.)

Aside from removing compost from pots and removing some extremely friable plastic window boxes from the ledge, we cleared a rain channel of garden debris and collected the empty pots for repotting on another occasion.

Entertainment-wise, Ms. A kindly provided us with a Coke zero each and put the football on in the background. We didn't really need the TV for that though - we could hear the people in the pub pretty clearly!

At the end of the job (around 9:30) Ms. A handed an envelope to each of us, saying that she'd written letters thanking us for our help. She then walked us out of the building and down the street a little before hugging us goodbye. I find it amazing how just a couple of hours of time can be used to make someone so happy :)
