Eight runners ran 5km to help Sustrans keep the National Cycle Network clean and tidy

GoodGym is 10! What a wonderful movement we are all part of celebrated in style tonight with a lovely group run. A longer pre-run spiel tonight as we shared the wonderful "found poem" about GoodGym , the letter from our founder Ivo and unveiled our splendid new flag as well as the usual running news. Then off we trotted to one of the most prolific litter spots on National Cycle Network Route 6 between Slater St and Abbey Park.

You could certainly tell that we hadn't visited for a while as we filled bag after bag of discarded rubbish, working like terriers to clear as much as we could by 7pm. I think the first time we visited this spot we managed a bin bag full of litter each, tonight it was nearer 2.5 bags full per runner! Incredible picking litter while getting fitter from everyone and made the post task pic with our flag look extremely busy with all those bags of treasure in shot!

Then it was up to the outdoor gym to do a 10 minute mini-circuit in very pleasant conditions and a beautiful setting. Great work from everyone and plenty of new "profile pic" action shots for you all!

Next week we'll be celebrating the 100th good deed for GG Leicester legend Mel Snutch. This run will be known as #RunWithMel and we'd love you to join us. Many of you know that Mel gives so much to the group, walking to the tasks she can and when it's too far meeting us there, carrying equipment, bringing refreshments and generally being the goodest of GoodGym good eggs. So next week we're going to #RunWithMel, heading the short distance to the task alongside her before taking a longer run (3km or so) back before heading to the pub to celebrate her contribution to our group. It promises to be one not to miss!

Good luck to all of our fantastic (and a little crazy) GoodGymmers taking part in Equinox this weekend. I'll be at Bedworth parkrun with GG Coventry doing some litter picking and volunteering if anyone would like to join me to celebrate #GG10 with a community mission sign up here.

Happy running, HD
