Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Michelle
It was a mission of firsts for two runners from GoodGym Hounslow on a hot and sunny morning in Feltham. Luis’s first mission and GG Hounslow’s first mission to help a Centenarian! We couldn’t wait to get started trimming, tidying and weeding so that Dr M could get out and enjoy his pride and joy once again. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Dr M and his carer with glasses of water - very much needed in the sweltering temperature. While Luis quickly got stuck in, power trimmer in hand, trimming, tidying and clearing a path so Dr M could get around safely, Michelle got to work weeding and clearing the huge carpet of leaves all round the house. Over the years Dr M has enjoyed keeping his garden in tip top condition with an abundance of colourful plants and trees in every corner. He is extremely proud of his garden and loves to see it looking neat and tidy. At the wonderful age of 100 Dr M has reluctantly passed on the baton for caring for his garden but he’s still keen to get out and walk around it as much possible. We could have spent all day at Dr M’s today with a ready supply of lovely ice cold drinks and all the tools we could possibly need for the task. But all too soon it was time to pack away and say our goodbyes. Not before we’d tackled the thorniest berry tree in West London (and won!). Surveying our efforts we bid a fond farewell/ adios to our new amigos and left Dr M to enjoy his garden in the glorious sunshine.
