Six intrepid GoodGymers from Liverpool, Effie, Emma, Eimear, Pauline, Rowan and Matthew answered a last minute call to help out at The Brink, a café for people recovering from addiction. It is a safe place for them to go, as well as the public, to get coffee and cake and to generally hang out. The call came to us yesterday as they had the decorators coming in on Monday and needed to clean the whole place, which is quite a space, including walls and metalwork. We got down to business straight away and moved, cleaned and scrubbed from high to low and in just over an hour we had finished all the required cleaning and judging by the colour of the water at the end it was well worth the effort.

They are now going to be able to paint the venue in a brighter colour than military green, which it currently is, to provide a brighter place for all concerned. A sterling call to arms for our team and great to chance to help an organisation in need of some last minute help.

The Brink Cafe, Action on Addication
A revolutionary venue that’s so much more than your usual café bar

The Brink has taken alcohol out of the mix to provide a truly welcoming, creative and intelligent space where people from all backgrounds and walks of life can dine, hang out, socialise and relax. Their award-winning team work hard to bring you an amazing alternative experience – they've built their unique menu around the very best locally sourced ingredients, complementing all their lovingly-produced fresh food with a great range of delicious non-alcoholic drinks carefully sourced from around the world. They also like to do their bit to promote the health and creativity of our local community, and work closely with local artists, musicians, poets and performers to put on a wide range of amusing, entertaining, educational and inspirational events! Best of all, The Brink is a recovery social enterprise, which means that all profits go directly back into the community to fund support for those who have suffered through alcoholism and addiction.
