Report written by Rob Haworth
After an interlude between our quartet of missions, we pitched up to help with the set down post-concert... But for any more music related puns, please refer to "The best of, Samia" in the previous report, it's enough to make the hills come alive.
Kate and I turned up to hear the choir belting out the last few notes of their summer concert and then it was all action stations. Folding and stacking the 92 blue chairs, no spreadsheet needed this time.
Have we got them the right way round? Where's another trolley? Is this one too full?
Then it was time to stack the stage. Off came the wooden bits with holes, off came the wooden bits with metal, off came the frames and CRASH went the metal bits at the back. Loud enough to wake the dead.
A chain gang was formed with instructions of what was needed being sung out from the storage room.
"5 smaller wooden panels, with metal bits please!"
It's a good job we were all singing from the same hymn sheet...
The stage came down quicker than it could be stacked but we got there in the end and the final job to do was to redress the alter, blue over white or white over blue?
And thus the final chord of Kingstons super missions Saturday was struck. Well done to all those Kingstonian GG'rs involved and for our friendly neighbourhood tourist, Elizabeth, who came all the way from Essex.
