Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Catherine
6 GoodGymers gathered on a balmy summers eve to clear the mighty overgrown path at Westbury Banks Nature Reserve. We pulled up soooo many weeds (some super satisfying as they came up root ball intact with one sharp tug) and cut back the overhanging branches to allow passageway through the reserve. We fought back the forest of nettles that had sprung up after those rainy days followed by bright sunshine and some proper hot weather.
Sam, Charlie and Kapil filled wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow with the weeds as Cathy, Louise and Geraldine cleared a path to the compost heap. The difference was striking as the path began to appear from out of the wilderness.
It was our Charlie's 50th good deed so we celebrated in true GGH style with a caterpillar cake (this one named 'Morris' - from Morrisons obviously), a card (beautifully handmade by Louise in an adept jungle style) and balloons!! Big it up for Charlie for this fantastic achievement 👏 We can't wait to see you in your black shirt 🥳
Upon leaving we took a group photo in front of the Westbury Banks Nature Reserve sign and Louise moulded her body into an 'R' to replace the missing letter someone had pinched. Big smiles all around!
"The Westbury Banks Nature Reserve is a community lead project to transform derelict land into a nature reserve. All work on the site is on a voluntary basis and the management of the site is done free of charge! There are big plans to install a storage unit for the equipment, a mural, a log path with wood chipping, a pond for amphibious for wildlife and a grand insect hotel

Congratulations Charlie and what better way to celebrate 50 good deeds... by munching your way through a caterpillar. 🐛
