Tonight, we were back with one of our much-loved task owners – The Lighthouse Centre. The Lighthouse is a church that supports the homeless and vulnerable members of our community. They do so much to support so many in the Crewe area.

Tonight, 4 us made our way to the centre ready for our task. Claire & Emily ran to the session Rob walked and I cycled. I love the fact that Goodgym always incentivises me to get on my bike (when I would otherwise drive).

Tonight, we were helping to tidy up the outside area of the building. The weeds had built up and the paving was looking a little bit unkempt. I knew that our lovely little team would be able to work wonders in just a short space of time and soon have it looking smart again.

We set to work – we had to work quickly as the nights are drawing in more and more with each passing week. Luckily, there was a warm glow from the church lights, so we could see reasonably well. We scraped, we pulled, we swept, and the paving was cleared in no time at all. We even had some spare time to transport a food delivery from the car to the kitchen… we made light work of quite a few boxes of food.

To maximise the light and time spent on the task, we had our run at the end of the evening instead of at the beginning. Two of us walked and two of us ran, finishing off the evening with a nice 2 mile route around the park. It was dark but that didn’t stop us!

All in all, another evening full of fun, fitness, friendship and the feel good factor.

Well done team! You're awesome xxx
