On an odd autumn evening, with the sky red with dust, seven of Goodgym's finest runners met to run 6km, do good and make Redbridge a nicer place to live.

With the Wanstead Allotment's Health eating event less than two weeks away, help was needed down at the Community Allotment to get things ready for the event. Armed with trowels, hoes and sheer strength, the team set about trying to reclaim the pathways from the pesky weeds which grow back almost as fast as we can remove them. The recent purchase of a rechargeable light has made night time tasks possible and with much chatter and enthusiasm the squad worked frenetically to spruce the place up.

With 45 minutes of hard work done, it was time to head into the local streets to log some miles. With Chloe leading the way (and pushing the pace I might add - bravo Chloe) the group had rapidly run 6km and were back at Wanstead House for some easy stretching. Great work team

Fancy getting involved? Great. Next week we meet up with local legend Marian Temple to help with reclaiming bits of unloved ground and making Wanstead a prettier place in the process. You can sign up for this super fun task here
