Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Natalie
It was a slightly damp afternoon, but that did not stop us from helping Mrs M out with her overgrown flower beds; indeed she was surprised to see us given the weather this morning!
A previous Good Gym group had been and done a stellar job of clearing the flower beds on the left hand side of the garden of overgrown grass and weeds. Our task today: set to on the beds to the right, and help with a bit of tree pruning. There was a lot of tall dense grass intermixed with the plants in the bed. It wasn't possible to see where the lawn ended and flower bed began, which made the ground beneath a bit unstable. No problem, we set to and quickly started filling up bags with the long grass we were pulling up, which was thankfully an easier task given the earlier rain. Caroline was a natural at this and quickly cleared a large area right back to the soil.
In doing so we found a red frog, which we understand has been living in the garden for quite a few years now! Once we had pulled the grass back to the original flower bed line, I helped with pruning a few branches on a plum tree.
We had filled three bags with grass, weeds, and branches, and helped carry them for disposal. We were happy to have made the bed more accessible, and safer to walk near now that the flower bed line is easier to see!
