Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
On a beautiful Wednesday evening 26 GoodGymers ran 5km, litter picked in the local park and gardened for Cecil Sharp House!
I bloody love GoodGym Camden, you guys are amazing with the effort you put into both the fitness work and the volunteering. We are helping make Camden be a better place and it's wonderful!
In the news this week:
Litter Picking Report:
After an active warm up we headed over to the local park in Somers Town to litter pick, before GoodGym each week I walk through the park and it always saddens me when it's full of rubbish. So 12 of us decided to change that, we took our litter picks and black bags around and got started!
Important work
We split into 3 groups tackling different areas of the park, finding various items including clothing, glass bottle and used needles. Everyone did fantastically when they came across the needles, they alerted me and stayed away. Luckily a park security guard was passing through the area and was able to dispose of the needles straight away!
Impact!
This is important - at least 5 members of the public, including local dog walkers, came up to various GGers and thanked us for doing the litter picking in their park! We are making an impact and it's a big one!
After packing our stuff up we ran over to Cecil Sharp House to meet the other group for some fitness work!
Cecil Sharp House Report:
We returned once again to the amazing Home of Folk - Cecil Sharp House, this is a brilliant building and garden area that benefits the community hugely with it's music, ceilidh's and event location. Due to local cuts in the last few years the building is used for weddings so it can survive.
Award nomination!
We've been going along to Cecil Sharp House for a number of months now and have seen the huge difference we've made, this week was a little different as the organisation has been nominated Camden Bloom Award and is inspected this Friday.
Tasks this week included:
Everyone did brilliantly and worked really hard! Nice one!
Fitness Session:
With the groups combined we headed over to Primrose Hill for a fitness session, it went something like this:
Everyone did wonderfully and hope you came away feeling like you learnt something.
On our return to base we split into two groups based on speed, did some importantly lovely stretches and went to the pub to say farewell to Liv who is off to Canada for an indefinite amount of time - have fun Yogi Liv!
Next week we will be gardening for St Mary's Flats and compost turning for Skip Garden, sign up here

I just went outside and noticed how windy it is today....
Camden
AIC's cold weather shelter helps 16 Londoners each and every week - you'll be making sure things are ready and inviting for the evening's guests :)
