Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Tara Shanahan
A Goodgym record got broken tonight as we did a task the furthest from the city centre we've ever been so thank you all hugely for making the effort to get all the way to the Wild West of our City, known as Portslade Village!
Cllr Les has had some trouble identifying which department at the council is responsible for maintaining the Portslade Village car park, so in came Goodgym to the rescue. Our task was to tackle a densley brambled bed that was growing triffid like across the pavement and into the car park. We lopped, sheared, swept and bagged our way through the evening leaving the bed transformed and Garry from the council's Tidy up Team's truck full of bags of brambles! We achieved loads but still more to do...we'll be back!
So following on from Amro's Rap and Tabitha's poem I thought we'd have a go at a song!! Thanks to Frances for coming up with 80% of the following in about 5 minutes flat! We definitely need some kind of Brighton Goodgym's got Talent evening.....And just in case you don't recognise the song that inspired it (hard to believe when you've heard it at least 100 times every Christmas for the past 35(!!!!!) years = 3500 times!) it's Band Aid's - Do they know it's Christmas Time!
It’s Goodgym time
And we’re heading over to Portslade
At Goodgym time
We’re volunteers, we don’t get paid.
And in this city, there's spaces,
That need some love and joy
So grab your torch and grab your gloves,
It's Goodgym time!
So we say HI!
To any one new joining,
At Goodgym time, we know, it can be daunting,
But there's this city, outside your window,
And it needs some one who cares
So our arms are open for all, at Goodgym time
Tell them alllllll, tell them all its Goodgym time
Weed the World -Let them know its Goodgym Time!
