Report written by Joel Wiles
19 soggy GoodGymers ran 6k to Whittington Park community centre to weed, sweep and fill 4 bin bags for the Children's day Nursary.
With Simon away in the countryside getting his running back underway and many of the Islington regulars in Riga after a very successful race weekend.
We welcomed a few new faces to the fold and got stuck in with some strong running up Holloway Road dodging pesky rain drops and road crossings. Huge shoutout to Kike for doing a sterling job back marking after a huge 10k PB in Riga yesterday!!
We arrived to locate Gary with a bit of a bump and soon split into groups to weed the gardens surrounding the centre particularly the children's day Nursary of weeds, leaves and anything that would impact the outside space enjoyed by the under 5's. For many it is the only safe outside space they get to use.
30 minutes of burrowing action we had filled 4 bags of garden waste. Clearing an ally way, bike shed, back garden and sensory garden!
A slight quickening of the pace on the way back to base stretched everyone out! Before we turned the screw for a speedy circuit of the Emirates Stadium getting faster and faster as we powered around the Oval!
A recovery run back and a stretch out rounded off a fruitful evening!!
Remember to check out and sign up for the GoodGym Olympics.
Thank you for looking after me and hope to see you again soon.
Smooth Running
