Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Bristol runner
A sunny blue-sky Sunday is a great opportunity for not just one, but two good deeds! This was the opinion held by Bristol runners Alex and Sarah, both of whom completed a GoodGym double deed on this day.
Alex ran to Mrs J's house from her previous deed at Sims Hill, where she was completing a Community Mission weeding the cabbage patch. She was joined by Sarah, who cycled over.
After some initial confusion with Mrs J not answering the door, Alex and Sarah wondered round to the back and found her sat by her garden. She explained that she was waiting for a neighbour to come round with gardening tools. Alex and Sarah suggested that she stay warm while the two of them waited instead.
Unfortunately, after some time it became clear that Mrs J's neighbour was still not back, and Alex and Sarah needed to start weeding. A brief conversation with Mrs J later, and our two runners decided to use some knives as improvised cutting and digging tools. As they worked away, Alex and Sarah discussed what they had been up to over the weekend, with Sarah mentioning her Community Mission yesterday helping out at the Community Farm, and Alex talking about winning the Second Lady prize at the Aspire 5 Mile Winter Series. While they were both too full from lunch to accept cake, Alex and Sarah happily took some tea from Mrs J to keep them warm.
Having done what they could with their improvised tools, and filling a bin bag of garden waste in the process, Alex and Sarah left Mrs J. Alex headed home to get ready for watching Fantastic Beasts in the evening, while Sarah cycled off to visit her coach for her second good deed of the day!
