Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Elizabeth
Today I met up with Beth for a pre-work mission for Ms K in Camden.
Ms K has a small rear garden that has recently become overrun with weeds. As Ms K's mobility has decreased, it's become more difficult for her to clear them. GoodGym were asked by one of our partner organisations if we could help with this.
With both Beth and I conscious of the need to get to work after this mission, we both arrived at Ms K's at least 10 minutes early! This turned out to be fortunate as, following a warm welcome from Ms K, we discovered that the back door keys had been misplaced following an unexpected hospital visit over the weekend. Thankfully the visit wasn't an extended one, and a little hunting around yielded the keys just as we were scheduled to start.
The job itself went by like a dream (hopefully not an hallucinogenic one resulting from the lack of sleep). Most of the weeds were pulled up easily by hand, and the ones that weren't were cut down ably by a table knife newly named "Dolly" (I was today years old when I realised that I'm the sort of person who automatically names knives 😅).
Within an hour, we'd bagged up 4 bags of weeds, uncovered a path and righted the wrongs/swing seat done by at least one of Storms Dennis and Ciara. With not much left to do except to say thank you to Ms K for the refreshments as we left, we took the bagged up weeds through to the front garden and headed off to work to be even more productive today 😎
It was fun working with you Beth - hopefully see you at Camden's group run on Wednesday for your 100th good deed! 😄
