No pain(t), still some gain...

Painting the outside of a garage in the playground at St Edmund Campion primary school was meant to be our task for a group run back in March, but it was postponed due to Covid-19. Then today the weather rained on our parade. Determined not to cancel altogether, Amy offered our weeding skills to the school instead and Amy, Clare, Jess and Sophie braved the drizzle and headed out for play-time.

Thank you to head teacher Patricia Opalko who met us, got us started and even offered a cup of tea!

Uncovering common ground

A big welcome to Clare, who joined us this evening for her first GoodGym session. She and Sophie pulled up weeds from around some play equipment. They managed to uncover a surprisingly large area and described the work as extremely satisfying. As they chatted they also uncovered another kind of common ground, realising they had been taking their toddlers to the same play groups before lockdown.

Pool party

Kudos to Jess for coming out this evening as she has been battling a tooth-ache. Amy joined Jess to tackle the cracks between the paving stones around the outdoor swimming pool. They were determined to get the job done and there was much huffing and puffing, squatting, cheering and talking to the weeds :

Get your (gr)ass out of there!

There must have been something in the (rain) water because by the end of our session Amy and Jess were in hysterics.

Mrs Opalko was very impressed by the 4 large bin bags we filled with weeds, and we all agweed weed love to come back for more. Maybe next time we'll bring our swimming kit!

Through Thicket and thin

After our task we rewarded ourselves with a lovely, muddy 5km run around Maidenhead's Thicket.
