16 people ran 6k to Suited for Success to drop off donations

We started slightly late tonight, due to the horrendous downpour which most of the group including myself got caught in making their way up to 1000 Trades, so we were all pretty soaked before we started! Rain like that made me think we were in Manchester not Brum! Anyways it was great to welcome our newcomer Brett who came with Hannah who hasn’t been to GG for a while so it was great to see you both!

Suited and booted

With still a bit of light rain in the air we were on our way, with bags and rucksacks full of suits, shirts, shoes, trousers etc. By the way thanks to Andrew for tonight’s ‘pun’! Once arriving at our destination, Patricia was pleased to see us, saying she wasn’t sure if we would be coming due to the weather! No sort of weather would stop us doing our good deed……well maybe acid rain might, but luckily, we don’t get that here! Once Patricia had told the group about the charity and some of the amazing success stories, we had a few photos and we were back on our way.

De-tour

We headed for the canal, however the side we wanted to run on was quite flooded, therefore we needed a different way, so Rob came good and used his local knowledge to take us another way so we didn’t have to get the snorkel and flippers out! We then ran on the nicely paved side of the canal. Just before we left the canal the group got their thighs and backsides burning with some squat holds followed by lunges.

I thought hills were next week?!

Well you would be right they are! But as we left the canal and ran up towards St Paul’s square we found that around 100 metres of the road was closed on a nice little gradient! Opportunity too good to miss! The group did five minutes of Kenyan Hills, that’s continuous hard running. Run up the hill hard, then back down hard but relaxed, with the idea that you recover on the downhill even if running hard! Well again the group put a right good shift in! Rob and Simon led the way, with Andrew and David not far behind. Laura, put in a great performance, showing her fitness is improving all the time. Charlotte, Morwenna and Maria pushed really hard, pulling each other along. Karin and Paige worked tirelessly, Gary showed three weeks away hasn’t put him back at all and it was good to see Brett and Hannah giving it a good go on their first GG hill session! Great work everyone, you all can be honouree Kenyan’s for the night! We then headed the short distance back to 1000 Trades. We ended up having a really good run which at one point I thought was going to be a swim and believe it or not the sun even came out towards the end, bonus!

Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.
