Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
6 GoodGymers turned out to pack bags of soil for fertilizer at Heeley City Farm, despite the worst weather in Sheffield history. Our group run took us from our start location to the farm which is less than 2K away. The run over to the task was gentle and as social as ever. We added a game of puddle dodging to the run which had its challenges. A perfect warm up on a cold, wet and windy evening.
The Task
Originally we were meant to be moving manure at the farm, but Julie, the task owner took pity on us as it wasn't ideal conditions to be moving poo. We were shown a huge pile of soil that needed to be bagged up so it can be used for fertilizer. Julie told us this job is usually carried out by a volunteer called John with out any help.
Despite the low numbers we managed to bag up an impressive 42 large bags of soil. John can have a day off now thanks to our amazing Goodgymers. It always amazes me how much we get done in a short amount of time.
The Session
With 25 minutes left of our group run, Kat suggested we tackle the hill through Meersbrook Park which was an excellent idea. We set off up and over a few inclines on the way to the park and headed up the main path through the park. Certain sections of the path were under quite a lot of water, which did a great job of cleaning the muck from our trainers. The view from the top of Meersbrook park was one to behold. We will be back to tackle that hill and enjoy the views very soon.
Then back to base
On arrival back at the hotel we did a number of stretches and all went our seperate ways to tell family and friends of how we survived the storm in Sheffield - which wasn't actually that bad once we were out.
Next week we are heading over to Sharrow Primary school to help out with some interior tasks. So far it looks like furniture removals and painting. It will be a great task and we will have lots of fun. You can register for it here I love Sheffield
A huge thanks to everyone once again. We are a great little running community and it will only grow stronger. We salute you!!!
