Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
12 GoodGymers ran between 10-12km along the canal network in East London!
Run report written by Steve Coman:
After the success of the inaugural Goodgym weekend longer run in Epping, 12 somewhat excited Goodgymers met at Mile End Tube Station for another weekend 10km adventure. We were planning a circuit of the Regent's Canal via the Limehouse Cut and on to the River Lea and back to the start along the Hertford Union Canal. What could go wrong?
Well, in fact, nothing did. The run was fantastic and the weather cooperated to its fullest extent by letting the sun shine down on us all. The mixture of post-industrial decay and post-modernist architecture caught the eye for the whole run. It's a real mixture of the old and the new and if you don't know this route give it a try, it's a must-run, and I suspect we will be returning to it on later runs. If you are planning a half marathon for the first time next year this is an excellent introduction to the longer route.
Axel led the way through Limehouse itself, being a local he knew the way avoiding the crowds, and Frances kindly stayed back to enable Hassan and Andy to keep in touch with the main group and to not get lost! Julia, Graham, Bean, Paul and Axel extended their route by 2km around Victoria Park, what a beautiful array of Autumn colours was seen in the spectacular green space!
Run, run, eat, drink and home.
With the run completed we headed off to the Coburn Arms in Mile End and enjoyed a proper wonderful Sunday roast and the drink of your choice. What's not to like? The only disappointment – nobody fell in, but there is always next time!
Join us for Regents Park 10km on Sunday 6th December (http://www.goodgym.org/races/regents-park-10k-december-edition) and the GoodGymer Christmas Party on Friday 11th December (http://www.goodgym.org/parties/goodgym-christmas-shindig).
We will be back with more wonderful training adventures in the new year. Keep your eyes on out for a training plan.
