Being part of Good Gym is really humbling. Today’s task was in the back yard of a man who had a life threatening condition five years ago and who has quite serious ongoing health issues. This time Pauline and Matthew, now veterans of the Missions in Liverpool were up to the challenge of clearing this overgrown back yard. You can see just how bad on the surface it was but within two hours we had managed to clear it completely and Pauline found the odd caterpillar along the way too. And we found lots of tyres and wheels to throw away and windows which had been covered over for years…oh and the back gate too! Our client had not been able to go out safely into his yard for years because he is unsteady on his feet and so had not been able to do simple things like put washing out on his washing line. The drains were all blocked. We managed to clear them. He has not been able to have a bath for two years. Now they are at least cleared of rubbish they can be flushed through by the council and he won’t have to go to friends and relatives to have a shower. Spending just two hours helping those in much more need than us will transform this man’s life and make the world just a little bit better, one mission at a time, so our hope is that more people sign up to Good Gym all over the country and even if you only do one of these Missions a month you will improving someone’s life immeasurably…and getting fit at the same time.
