Report written by Ipswich runner
We seem to have had a run of getting very wet on our Goodgym tasks as the last two weeks have seen us out in pouring rain.
Add that to the number who had run the fantastic local Martlesham 5k & 10k races on Sunday in torrential rain and you might think our Goodgymmers would have developed their swimming technique or caught trenchfoot!
So it was great to see all those braving the elements again last night for one of our longest runs out to Castle Hill Community Centre.
Shane was ready for our arrival with dustsheets, brushes and rollers prepared. Our small but highly efficient team set to work to paint the hall which is used for a multitude of activities. Most of the chat was about the merits and natural beauty of the Martlesham 10k course with Keith being the only critical voice among a chorus of praise for the flat, fast, rural (as long as you look left into the woods!) course.
It was my birthday so I'd brought "portable" cake in my back pack - chocolate min rolls - to celebrate. these were consumed while painting and rolling with some incredible skill leaving the room looking much fresher and brighter.
We headed back out into the rain for the return leg taking in a quick hill session and some "train" sprinting through the town centre, before we fortuitously arrived outside a pub to finish the run. Thank you for the kind birthday wishes and birthday cake which was shared in the pub.
A fabulous way to celebrate!.
