Well, what can I say, GoodGym Norwich trainer Steven Hitcham done himself and us proud, organising his first ever race with EPIC (Exercising People In Communities) ๐Ÿ’š

Epic Norfolk is a social enterprise aimed at increasing physical activity levels amongst communities. All profits made from the race are being distributed to local community organisations.

Steven has been hard at work preparing for this 5k race which started and finished in the marketplace in Aylsham, Norfolk.

Race conditions were perfect and the community of Aylsham, (as well as Norwich Goodgymers) were out in force! โ›…๐ŸŒž

Spirits were high and the town was buzzing as the runners collected their race numbers from the town Hall and GoodGym Norwich, along with other race volunteers, helped with pre-race organisations. The volunteer marshals were then given their briefing and safety talk and we made our way to our marshaling posts. Some of us used the opportunity to run or cycle to our positions ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝ

Richard Beastall, from GoodGym Norwich, lead the race as front pacer on his bike ๐Ÿšด and the race was off at 7.30pm ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฟโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Runners saw the 5k course take them in and around Aylsham town, along a varied terrain of road, grass and track, past landmarks like the Bure Valley Railway, along the beautiful Marriott's Way, finishing back at the historic marketplace.

Around the course the GoodGym, and other volunteer marshals, were cheering, encouraging, high fiving and ensuring safety throughout the race.

Amongst the finishers was a Viking ship costume which had to be carried by two people! ๐Ÿ›ถ

The race was chip timed by Total Race Timing and participants had amazing medals, race finish photos, as well as food and refreshments to look forward to ! ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿฅ›๐Ÿ…

Thanks to Katy, Alex, Elizabeth, Steven and Mel for the report photos.

The next race, in the Epic Norfolk series, is taking place in North Walsham where GoodGym will be volunteering and racing again - we can't wait! https://www.facebook.com/events/1650959425203373/?ti=cl
