Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

On Monday 16 January six hardy souls from GoodGym Redbridge made Wanstead beautiful again and picked rubbish from flowerbeds on the high street. If this wasn’t enough exercise they ran almost 6km in the process.

Wanstead Community Gardeners is a voluntary group based on Wanstead High Street. Their aim is to take the uncared for bits of land around the town and turn them into oasis of plants and flowers. GG Redbridge has been working with the group regularly over the last six months and as we approach Spring we should be able to see the fruits of efforts. The task was simply to make sure the beds were free from rubbish and well cared for.

As usual the group worked with gusto to remove 20 to 25 beer cans and numerous crisp, sweet and cigarette wrappers that seem to regularly find their way into the beds. With the task done it was time to head out on the usual 5km loop led by local knowledge expert Tina.

Excitingly GG Redbridge regulars Alice and Tim are both nearing important GoodGym miles stones (Alice 100 tasks and Tim 50) so next week’s task will be a special one. We are heading to The Forest Recycling Project in Leyton to sort and mix paint – a fun and physically demanding task – and will be celebrating milestones in the pub afterwards. Definitely not one to miss. You can sign up for this event [here]

In the meantime you can join GG Redbridge this Saturday for a Starter Session and more details can be found [here]
