11 people ran 5k to help feed the homeless at the Birmingham Mission Care Centre
After the excitement of the groups TV appearance on ITV Central last night and becoming celebs for at least a few mins, we were back to doing what we do best tonight, getting fit by doing good! It was great to welcome Dave along, who is the new Leicester trainer (launching next week) he also brought his wife Mel to join the party. We also had two more newbies, both Bernadette and Richard also joined us, it’s great to have you on board!
Pasties, beans and sausage rolls!
On a ‘looking like it was going to rain’ kind of night we were on our way to the Care centre. I took the lead and Annie kindly back marked. Once we got to the Mail box steps, as the group had broken up very slightly, the front group did some deep split squats, then once the rest of the group arrived the whole group performed some high intensity step ups! (we didn’t want them missing out!) Then it was off to the task destination. Once there half the group did some washing up, the other half serving the food, as you might have guessed it was pasties, beans and sausage rolls! Garry ‘the sausage roll man’ Stevens did more eating the serving, having one probably two (camera evidence shows at least one!), he said he needed it ‘to fuel himself for the hill sprints’!.... we believe you!
Feet up on the hills for me tonight
Tonight, was slightly different as new Leicester trainer Dave took the hill session, he had the group doing a mix of alternating running hard up the hill then, easy back down and vice versa, whilst I ‘sat back’ and took the photos! Everyone worked well, Bernadette pushed hard on her first session, Rob powered hard up the hills as usual and Dionne showed good form keeping up on her toes! Once done and a big thank you to Dave, we ran a couple of interval repeats running hard up the steps in front of the town hall and then pushing on for another 200 metres. Everybody was tired by then, so it was just a steady run back to base. Next week we will be out doing good again sign up here.
