24 GoodGymers ran between 5-7km and helped St Mungos and Community by Design for our Thrive LDN special
Welcome along to Steph and Helen whose first time it was tonight - lovely to have you along.
This week was our Thrive LDN special - we all know that running and helping others is great for mental health and wellbeing. Therefore to recognise World Mental Health Day on the 10th October GoodGym teamed up with Thrive LDN to deliver a week of special sessions. Thrive LDN is campaign supported by the GLA aimed to improve the mental health and wellbeing of all Londoners. Read Sarah's inspiring blog about how GoodGym has helped her.
Well done to everyone who did Oxford Half Marathon at the weekend, including Kat, Steve and Sophie who got PB's boom! We had two tasks this evening while Rosie, Steve Lee and Imogen went off and did a mission in Kentish Town.
St Mungo's Report by PB:
A crack team of nine people headed north to St Pancras Way to help a housing project run by St Mungo's, this amazing charity help homeless people & aim to rebuild lives. It was a quick task splitting into two groups:
Within 10 minutes we were done and then headed at a decent pace to meet the others at the Calthorpe Project.
Tom Benson & his light!
Community by Design Report by Frances
Fifteen of us arrived at the Calthorpe Project to meet Rokiah from Community by Design (one of the charities on site). We set off on a variety of tasks aided by Tom Benson's amazing lighting equipment. We planted, drilled, raked, stomped and bagged, all whilst chatting to the ladies from Thrive LDN and each other.
Pyramid please!
With both groups joined together we took a group pic with our new bags and then headed to Russell Square for a Pyramid Interval session - 1' on, 1' rest, 2' on, 1' rest, 1' on - lovely stuff!
Join us next week when we headed to Cecil Sharp House, sign up here.
