Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
22 runners ran between 5-7k to paint a community hall at Athlone Estate.
On one of the chillier night this winter 22 hardy people met at Somers Town Community for this week's GoodGym run. We were off to help paint a community hall on Athlone Estate. It was a 2.5k run up to the centre and we stuck together as a pack all the way there.
Back to work
The hall is used for a range of different purposes- from 'back to work' training schemes to community yoga classes. It needed a bit of a spruce up and we wanted to help.
Superior Hydration- Capri Sun
We were welcomed by Joned from Origin Housing, who run the estate. He was raring to go, and had provided paint, brushes, rollers, and most importantly lots of Capri Suns. We quickly broke into 2 groups- each working half the hall.
First Coat
The first coat seemed to go up incredibly quickly and it wasn't long before the hall was looking pretty bonza. Local resident and hall user Pam popped in and was suitably impressed.
Snow Flecked T-Shirt
In little under 40mins we had virtually covered the entire hall- not bad for a bunch of runners. The difficult part was the clean up- we were covered in white paint, from Axel's snow flecked GoodGym shirt to Rachels go faster striped trousers.
We also had to get the brushes washed so Jules and Axel created an impressive water flume system-transporting water from the toliets with an old plastic light. Ingenious.
Choice of runs home
We broke into 2 teams on the way home- one group taking the same route home and the others extending their run around Primrose Hill and Regents Park on the back to Somers Town. Great work guys
