Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Mitch
On a sunny Sunday afternoon, I went over to Mr D's house to assist in his garden as, due to injury, Mr and Mrs D are currently unable to physical work. I arrived and asked what needed doing:
"Well anything you see that needs doing would be appreciated"
In that case, I decided to work on weeding the patio and nearby flower beds. This would open the nearby sitting area for him and make it more pleasant.
We chatted throughout the whole task, talking about travelling, the wonders of York and Plymouth (his son went to uni there, I may be biased but good choice!). We also discussed volunteering as he has worked for many organisations including the Lions, a van driver for the blind/partially sighted and as a York Freemen. And we thought Goodgymers were busy!
After an hour and a half, I had the patio and flower beds cleared of weeds and bid farewell.
*I didn't get a chance to take pictures, so this is from a previous task...
