Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Michelle
Two Goodgymers set off from one side of the Borough on a blustery morning, wondering what might await them when they reached their destination. With weather warnings in place, we considered rescheduling but in a break in the rain decided we would take our chances against Storm Darragh.
The fliers we were delivering today are advertising the opening of Foodcycle in Bedfont Lane in Feltham from 16th January. Foodcycle will offer hearty hot meals and chat for those in need every Thursday at 12:30pm.
Armed with hot coffees for the journey courtesy of Alan, we took public transport over to Feltham and as we arrived there was a brief shower to welcome us.
We braced ourselves for a wet and soggy walk but in actual fact the rain soon passed and we were lucky to walk 6km and keep mostly dry and warm. We stopped off at a local church community centre, and talked to one of the volunteers there, who promised to speak to the faith leader about promoting the service and donations. Just over the road we dropped by two supermarkets to leave leaflets on their community notice boards before dropping to local residents, some of whom gave a thumbs up or wave as we left the fliers.
After an hour and half we had delivered half the leaflets. We’ll be back in the area early in the new year to help spread the word about Foodcycle Feltham so look out for the listing if you’d like to come along and lend a hand.
