Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
This Wednesday our runners maxed out on the distance, covering 10km and got green fingers, weeding a garden.
As some of our GoodGym runners are preparing for races at the Larmer Tree on 11th March, I thought we'd push the distance this week.
Big shout out to our regular runners, Ross, Daryl, Caprice and Abi who always come in rain or shine. Last night we had rain - and lots of it! But as ever we all had loads of fun....
Our run out to the task took us to Southbourne and beyond towards Iford where there is a community garden called The Rookery. Due to a shortage of their local gardening volunteers we were asked to step in and do some weeding of the wild flower beds to maintain the upkeep of the area. We arrived as the heavens opened just a little bit wider! Sheltered under a tree, then manned up and got on with clearing leaves and weeds from the beds.
The team worked so well and were gallant in the face of very soggy conditions - thank you!!!
Our run back felt super quick. Ross 'lady lump lover' Boon insisted we head to the beach en route. There are huge dunes currently, where sand is being moved. So we added more challenges to our 10k by getting onto the sand and running up and down these 'dunes/lump humps' on our way back to base.
Safe to say we all felt good and knackered by the end of the session.
Next week we have a fab starter session, running just 3km. Looking forward to seeing some new faces!
Until then....happy running!
