On a horrible evening in Redbridge, just two runners braved the torrid conditions to paint railings and ran 6km afterwards to show the rain who was boss.

With the Met Office issuing an amber warning for bad weather and local transport struggling under the deluge of rain, only James and James braved it to do good in the borough. Being light on numbers the planned task was abandoned and with the rain stopping for a short while the duo headed outside to continue painting the gates that mark the boundary to Wanstead House Community Centre. This has been an ongoing project and while it's 90% done, there's still some untreated patches to finish.

After around 30 minutes of paining and with the rain still holding off, the pair set off for an extended road run around Wanstead, Snaresbrook and Eagle Pond. Big shout out to James who brought all the good vibes, despite the bad weather, and has seen serious improvements in his running over the last couple of months! Bravo James.

Hopefully, the weather will be kinder on us next week when we head to the 'apple pie bed' in Wanstead to work with Wanstead Community Gardeners on removing the grass seed heads before they shed and turn the bed into a jungle of wild grass. We need numbers on this one so don't delay and sign up today using the link on the right of this page.
