I met Claire and Andrew from Wild Eton at Cooley's Meadow, a public open space in the delightful surroundings of Eton Wick.

Unfortunately the rain and sleet were lashing down and the wind was whipping up our hedgerow whips for planting . We abandoned the hedgerow planting element but as the whips had been donated by conservation volunteers for their 'I dig trees' programme, we will be making a return visit.

Undeterred, we moved over to the embankment which afforded slightly better weather protection. Here we were able to plant saplings for Oaks for Folks and a Hazel sapling donated by a resident.

Claire and Andrew had also managed to plant one of the crab apples donated by The Woodland Trust for the Queen's Green Canopy.

At least we have a few more missions identified to return for.
