Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Elizabeth
For my second mission of the day, I met up with Dom and JC in Lambeth for a mission for Mr J.
Mr J is currently in hospital and needs a hospital bed installed in order to be released home. GoodGym were asked if we could help effect this by moving a double bed into Mr J's living room to free up space in his bedroom.
We three amigos rocked up to Mr J's with the type of punctuality that a Japanese train company would be proud of. Mr J's brother-in-law (BIL) had presumably been pre-warned about our timekeeping tendencies as he was already waiting to let us in and give us quick run through of what needed to be done.
Our shift started by JC and I transferring the double mattress to the living room. Luckily the mattress was light (😍), flexible around corners (😍), and had handles (😍). In short, it was a PERFECT mattress, and more need to be made exactly like it.
JC and I returned to the bedroom with a smug look to see Dom getting distracted by the Spice Girls and Hanson posters on the wall. Since he'd been able to enjoy this while we worked, I decided to wax lyrical about my love for Hanson while JC and Dom unscrewed the headboard. JC ultimately managed to escape this monologue by carrying the disconnected headboard through to the other room, which left Dom to volunteer the one piece of Hanson general knowledge he had: one of them makes a craft beer called "MmmHop". Nice 👌🏻
Our last job was to separate the double divan base into separate parts and to cart it through to the living room. As this went entirely smoothly (BIL had emptied all of the drawers in advance 😎👍🏻) and didn't really involve me, I refuse to comment on it further 😉
Our double-bed shift finished, we made our goodbyes to BIL and to each other and wandered off for our respective fun-filled Friday evenings.
Dom, JC; it was good seeing you guys again! 😄
