Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Danny
Our task was to clear a ground-floor room to accommodate a bed, so that the occupant could come home from hospital.
The room had been being used for storage, so that meant moving a lot of stuff out to gain access to the centrepiece of our mission: the heavily-built six-person dining table which needed to go upstairs, along with the other stuff. We were helped along by our Mission contact, and her lovely gregarious little lad.
Once the room was clear, Alan Partridge’s inimitable line of ‘YES, It’s an extender!’ proved apposite as this table indeed was, meaning we were able to disassemble it sufficiently to get it up the stairs safely. This good luck was supplemented by David’s knowledge of table construction, and that he even thought to bring tools along with him, what a legend!
With the table moved we stacked the room’s contents carefully upstairs leaving enough space for our mission contact to get in there and tackle it in due course. The downstairs room which had been pretty stuffed when we arrived, now had enough space for options of where to put the new hospital bed to best capitalise on the view of the lovely garden through the French doors.
They’re now on track to get the occupant home from hospital within the week - well chuffed!
When we were done we stayed for tea and biscuits. Our mission contact had only been in the country five days, so we discussed good local parks and attractions for an active wee lad, and what further GoodGym missions might be able to offer them in the future.
