On a crisp autumn evening eight of Goodgym Redbridge's finest runners met to do good at Ilford Food Bank and ran a whopping 10km in the process.

Over the past 12 months the Redbridge Food Bank has become one of the group's favourite tasks. It requires some running, lifting and a smart mind to get the job done. As a result of all the local Harvest Festivals the Food Bank had become overwhelmed with new food to sort, moved and order and it was down to GG Redbridge to help it get on top of things.

After a 5km run to to the Jubillee Church in Ilford the group was split into three groups. Group one was tasked with sorting the foodstuffs into years and months so that it could be replenished easily. Group two was given the job of making the sorting and selecting easier and, finally, group three was asked to help sort a few items that had been delivered. Plenty to do and a combination if lifting and sorting so the job was tough on the mind and body.

With the team working hard, the task was done in no time and it was simply a job of running the 5km back to base. Great work guys!

Fancy getting involved? Great. Well next week we are meeting with everyone's favourite community gardener, Marian Temple, to help with a local planter project. You can sign up for that task here. Also if you fancy meeting up with other likeminded GG folk then there is the monthly GG social which is conveniently in Newham. Why not check that out here.
