Dedicated deed doers dodging Dennis
As warnings were issued this morning regarding closures of Islington parks and parkruns, Franie and Octopus Communities hoped not to have a repeat of last week's adverse weather.
Luckily, 3 Goodgym Islington regulars (and Emily from Market Road Garden's volunteer plant nursery project) were available to lend a hand with preparing the main entrance of the gardens for an upcoming event in March/April. A Friends of Market Road Gardens group is due to be set up, and Goodgym will be recognised for their assistance in renovating the gardens! Watch this space!
Steve and Simon got cracking with unloading big bags of rubble onto the surfaces surrounding the main vehicular access to Lumpy Adventure Playground, shoveling and spreading across the intended loading bays for school buses. Caz and Emily loaded wheelbarrows with bark and woodchip to lay down a pathway between some flowerbeds and compost heaps near the main entrance of the park.
We completed a solid afternoon of work for this ongoing community task, just as the wind and rain started to become a bit more present. Definitely more to do in the coming weeks, so keep an eye for more Market Road Garden visits very soon!
