It was a beautiful spring evening – pretty blossom was blooming everywhere we turned, and it was the perfect night for a lovely leafleting task for the wonderful charity Motherwell. Tonight, we were delivering leaflets promoting the services of Motherwell as well as some events that they've got coming up that they wanted to spread the word about – in particular, a tea party to celebrate the King’s Coronation.
Alison, Karen & Nicola set out, armed with leaflets and maps, and headed off to start posting. We had a good natter as we walked (with the occasional minor curse about the low letter boxes, awkward gates, and over enthusiastic dogs!). We covered a staggering 4 miles. I think the long drives contributed to at least half that distance, lol!
The evening went really quickly, and we managed to shift a good chunk of leaflets while getting lots of fresh air, exercise and most importantly, enjoying amazing company.
I think we all felt tired by the end, but it was a job well done!
Well done team, amazing as always!!
Have a great week and see you soon, Lots of love Nicola xxx

Lighter nights are back!!!!
Tonight we were back at the amazing Lighthouse Centre to have fun sorting through bags of clothes donations. But before we got to work, we set to our weekly pre-task exercise session. We started with a brief roadside warmup (nothing too embarrassing in front of the passers-by I hope!).
Adele & Alison took a walk (is it mean of me to mention that they completely missed their turning because they were too busy nattering, lol!). It did tickle us when we passed them going the wrong way – delighted that they had a great chat though and they probably ended up getting a few extra steps in too! Annaliza, Maurice & I did a run – a circular route which took us around the park – we can’t wait for the park to be open later again so that we can include it in some of our runs. It was wonderful to complete our entire run in daylight – it feels like it’s been a long time coming! Hope your knee has stopped being twingey by the way Annaliza!
Back at the task we were, as always, warmly greeted by the lovely Dalton who welcomed us in and set us to work on the evening’s task. Tonight we had bags of donations to sort through. There were probably about 10-12 bags in total and we soon whittled our way through them (what’s the old adage…. ‘many hands make light work’. So true – Dalton said it would have taken him ages to sort through all those on his own.
There was a good selection of clothing, some really good donations and some that we had to send for rag. There was of course the usual giggles along the way when Annaliza came across some oddballs underpants (unworn and still in their packaging - thank goodness for small mercies!) and Adele a lacy red bra! My own haul didn’t present anything nearly as interesting, but we did spot some nice high heels along the way tonight – which led us to tonight’s pun – courtesy of Adele! Thank you Adele, you’ve saved me no end of time again this week! Genius!
Well done everyone – another amazing night’s work and lovely, as always, to spend the evening with you again.
Have a great week everyone! See you all next time!!
Lots of love Nicola xxx

The Magnificent 7 are back!!! Wow, 7 lovely Goodgymer’s came together this evening for a task to support the wonderful charity, Motherwell. It was great to have Alison back with us this evening – so lovely to see you again Alison, we’ve missed you!
We started our evening with a pre-exercise warmup – a few simple moves to get the old heart pumping with a few fun exercises thrown in from the Junior Parkrun team repertoire – my personal favourite being the Gorilla Stomps! (I'm pretty sure we didn't look as good as when the children do it mind you!
We had a running group and a walking group this evening. The runners did a circular route down through Joey the Swan, taking in 2 hills (one up, one down!) and our walking group did an out and back route. We were lucky as the weather was dry while we were out but the rain set in once we got back! It’s really lovely to see the night’s finally drawing out – we didn’t even need our torches tonight! It starting to feel a lot like Summer…..
Back at Motherwell, we set to work with the evening’s task. Nigel had the job of putting a Moses basket stand together (a bigger task than you might think with no instructions or tools!), Karen & Maurice worked together to clear out and sort the stationary/marketing cupboard, Adele, Alison & Emily took on the task of sorting out the craft cupboard and I helped Kate with some general bits of sorting. It was an evening well spent and the cupboards were looking much better once our lovely members had worked their magic! Adele even managed to sweep up the floor with a brush and a miniature beach spade - we certainly know how to improvise!
Well done everyone – another amazing night’s work and lovely to all be together again this evening.
Have a great week everyone! See you all next time!!
