Croydon Report written by Conroy
What a evening we had, judging by the rain earlier in the day and prior to our group run I thought we were in for a massive down pour however the rain held off and allowed us to run and complete today's task.
Welcome to Chris and Petra who joined us today for their first group run, it was nice have you both along and even nicer watching you interact with the group.
This evening 11 regulars and two newbies ran 3.6km, to Tunstall Nursery where Jane had been awaiting our arrival with a list of things for us to do.
Upon receiving our briefing of the tasks to be completed we split into two groups one group whose task was to top up the soil in the tyres and another who was tasked with cutting back the over growth and digging up the flower bed for fruit trees to be planted at a later date. The second group doing the cutting and digging was too big so we had Stephanie and Sarah who formed a break away group and was tasked with sweeping up the area surrounding the nursery.
The group filling up the tyres (Zara, Nicola and Petra) completed their task and joined Sarah and Stephanie where they worked on clearing another small flower bed along the front of the building. Before long there were two additional members to the group "Bruce and Bernadette" two snails that had the misfortune of being noticed by them. Bruce was given a steak which had clearly upset his tummy which gave concerns to his new friends as his poo was multi coloured. (see pictures)
Let's talk about snails
So concerned was one member that upon doing a google search we were informed it is normal for snails to poop different coloured poo. Bernadette had obviously taken an offence to Bruce's lack of etiquette that she had taken herself to the other side of the garden giving Bruce time to improve his dating etiguette. Some though Bernadette thought Bruce was too SLUGGISH. While others thought snails are just posh slugs who can afford homes with names like Bernadette and Bruce that just confirms it.
They snailed it
Disclaimer: No snails were harmed, during our visit and upon leaving Tunstall !
The group cutting back the over grown bushes filled two ton bags and dug up the bed as requested, Jane was quite pleased with the amount of work we had completed and we returned our tools then headed out of the nursery for our loop around Tunstall before heading back to solutions.
Following our stretches we saw Josie from Park Hill Rec, our task for next week, she informed us that they had been at an award ceremony where they had won an award and funding for peace poles which she have invited us to be apart of in July. Well done Josie and the Park Hill Team.
Next week we are heading to Park Hill followed by our end of month social at Mr Fox, where we will be shuffling.
