I am so happy today that I signed up for my first group mission. I was not sure what to expect but thought it sounded fun. I ran from London Bridge to Canada Water across the river running in the sunshine which made me happy. I met up with another runner and photographer on my way and it was fun to meet new people and do an action photoshoot. I will always remember this task so many photos of us. We then ran to meet Mr G and Nick who was celebrating his 50th Birthday. Such a great team and so happy to be involved. Mr G was happy to see us and we got on with the task of removing the furniture for him. Once we had completed it he came down the stairs of his flat and had a group photo with us. I think we made him very happy. So good to be able to help out in the community and make a difference. Dee x

Great to be able to help Miss S get some shopping in today in my lunch hour. I rang her in the morning to check if the list had changed and she asked for me to go and get a new list. I walked there and collected the list and cash and off I went to Sainsbury’s. I had to get some substitutes but she was happy. We had a little chat and she said thanks for helping out as she could not get out the house due to health problems. She had a smile on her face when I left and told her to contact good gym again if she needed anything. These small missions surely make a difference.

I walked to collect a sample for Mr D, I arrived at his flat and the package was outside. He was behind his door and we had a quick chat. He said he was grateful I was able to turn up to help him. I told him to have a nice day and off I walked to the GP surgery to hand it over to them. I left feeling good I could do another mission in the middle of my busy week to help someone in need. Dx

Marsden hospital will have results of that sample - which will decide on Mr D's health care needs.

So after the news we are now in another lockdown I decided it is now time to do as many missions as I can in the next 6-8 weeks to help those who are vulnerable and isolated, whether this is walking, running or cycling to help with these missions. A great start to 2021 by being able to help out in the community. Now we are in another lockdown and Tier 5 there will be a lot more people who are vulnerable and isolated at this time. On the way to the task I called Mrs P to check the shopping list and off I went to find the local Co-Op where I got everything on the list. I walked with the shopping and when I got to the door I rang the bell and said it’s Dee from Good Gym. She sounded really happy. I wished her a happy new year and asked how Christmas was for her. We had a little chat and she said she had been in hospital and not well but was recovering. She was really grateful to me. I told her hopefully it will get better for her in 2021 and if she needs anything to contact Age UK who will contact Good Gym. She said thanks and god bless for taking time out of my day. I left and walked home thinking how lucky I am to be healthy at this time and to take one day at a time and to keep on signing up to missions in my area. Xx
