Thursday 6:15/ 6:30pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
Tonights community mission was for a bit different and the weather didnโt disappoint!
We were at The Pirate Park doing litter picking as our primary task but with some GoodGym awareness thrown in giving out leaflets and a social game of rounders and gathering of to celebrate our achievements so far in Windsor.
We would have loved to have had more of you there but we do appreciate everyoneโs help since Jan and dedication to Windsorโs good causes to huge ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป to you all!
Thank you also today to Pippa for her very first GoodGym session. ๐๐ป๐
ANDโฆ.. Sheila for her 703rd task ! ๐ฅณ๐๐พ๐๐ป
We all met at The Pirate Park Caroline, Marilyn, Bekah, Jen, Sara, Mandy, Devon, Sheila and Pippa swept the park with litter pickers on our way to the far side where we were to play rounders.
We handed out some GoodGym Windsor leaflets to some runners and walkers in the park.
We set out the nibbles from The Binoy and got some music on. We decided on our rounders teams (Team Bhajis and Team Samosa) and set up the game. Weโll be honest it wasnโt very organised or indeed very fair ๐ฌ but we all had a go and we all tried our best.
Pippa did a bit more litter picking and Devon and Mandy and Marilyn had a run around the field.
The others started on the Indian nibbles and cakes and eventually we all regrouped for a catch up.
Thank you all for coming ๐๐โโ๏ธ you are all litter-ally the best!

Thursday 6:15pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ and we're happy again โ
Tonight we were helping Braywood CE First School in Oakley Green, Windsor.
Of course itโs half term so the weather wasnโt being kind โ๏ธ so no painting outdoors for us so tidying the small area in front of the school gates was our task instead.
Jen made her way on foot from The Greene Oak pub but Sue, Devon and Adam met at the task greeted by task owner, Head Teacher Susan. Mandy joined the task half way through as the rain was causing other issues as well ๐ง๐ชฃ Huge thank you to Jen for stepping in as task force for the first part ๐๐ปโฅ๏ธ
The front of the school had got a bit over grown so we wanted to create an area that maybe could have some planting added at a later date and give a bit more space as access to the parents and children.
Setting to work weeding and pulling up ivy, cutting back over grown hedgerow so the path has more space for when the children return next week.
We chatted about our week and touched briefly on the election but no heated debates were had! Devon took it all very well ๐ and had a break from knocking on doors.
Adam had a great technique playing leaf golf with a stick as part of the clear up at the end. Sue as always brought her mobile tool shed.
Lots of black bags were filled and put aside ready to go in the skip.
After the group photo we said our goodbyes , did the Windsor curtsy and made our way home.
As always thank you all for coming ๐๐๐๐ป

Thursday at 6:15pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Tonight we were at Windsor and Eton FC CIC to due to the weather to instead help in the clubhouse removing some paint that had not been applied properly and was easily coming away. Was lovely to see the tables we had sanded at previous sessions all smooth and painted โฅ๏ธ
Zoe, Devon and Mandy had a social run from The Binoy to the task and Jen, Brenda and Caroline met us there.
Itโs was Brendaโs first Thursday session and it was her 10th ๐๐ป Goodgym task so huge well done Brenda!
We were met by task owners and given the indoor task due to the incoming rain. Zoe picked some 80s tunes and we were supplied with scrapers to get all the paint off the wall panels. It was very satisfying watching the paint just peeling off. Then a sand down was required to ensure the surface was ready for painting. It was one of those tasks where it looks like we made it worse ๐คฃ but it needed to be done. Then we tidied up and gave it a quick vacuum.
We just about scraped through ๐คฃ one wall so we may have to finish the others another time.
Mandy insisted on a bit of footy action โฝ๏ธ (there was no e-scraping it) with the sponge ball at the end although I donโt thing any of us will be asked to sign up for the team ๐ฌ
A quick curtsy and bow ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธand we made our way back.
Thank you as always for attending ๐๐ป

Thursday 6:15pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Tonight we were doing a double bill with not one but two acts of kindness ๐๐ป ๐ช๐ป
Helen ( who had just run the London Marathon ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ ๐๐ป๐๏ธ), Devon and Mandy met at The Binoy for a social run and Sue, Adam and Margaret (her debut GoodGym session ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป) met us at the task.
Then the show began โฆ. Or was it a circus ๐คฃ
For our first act we met our task owner Anne at Busy Buttons (St Agnes Church) and Anne kindly showed us the church garden. We de-weeded the gravel drains, broke down and moved some old wooden furniture and other rubbish to the front of the church to be collected and swept/made tidy. Devon even did a bit of guttering clearance !
After the interval (as in us hot footing to the pathway near the church with our belongings) we got to work for our second task. We had done some work here in the dark but we had not quite finished it so we did that tonight. Devon and Adam had a great technique and were very neat and precise and polished. Mandy less so ๐คฃ she kept getting her lines all wrong ๐คฃ although Helen did keep her in check. Sue and Margaret attached the brambles. We filled three bags which is amazing in the time we had.
Soon it was time for the final curtain and we took a bow, gave ourselves an huge round of applause and made our way home.
Thank you all as always Windsor GGs ๐ โฅ๏ธ๐๐ป

Thursday 6:15pm is GoodGym Windsor Night! ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Tonight we were helping the Achieving for Children - Family Hub Service improve the aesthetics of their entrance way.
This was a community mission so we met at the The Binoy for a social walk with some tools and other items we needed for the task.
We were met by task owner Daniel and a Spanish Storm called Nelson! They both introduced themselves ๐คฃ Nelson was particularly forceful! ๐จ๐ฆ
We put on the 70s music to drown out the wind and have a sing/dance to as Jen, Didem, Devon, Sue and Mandy set about the weeding, ripping up the old weed-proof lining, removing leaves and litter.
Nearly lost the dust pan a few times in the air and everything was flapping about. But the we kept going in true GG spirit.
Once the main weeding was completed we did our very best to brush away the mud and debris but this was made difficult by the rain so we improvised with a bucket and old kettle to try and swilll some of the mud away. We also gave the inside a hoover at the end to get rid of any mud.
We then took the bags over to the bin area with Daniel.
Sadly it was too wet and windy for Easter games ๐ฐ๐ฃ( maybe next week?) or to paint the bench but we will try and go back for that another time. Sue will also go back and scatter some grass seed ๐ฑon the cultivated earth in the next few days ๐๐ปโฅ๏ธ when the wind has died down.
Thank you all as always for coming especially given the conditions ๐๐ปโฅ๏ธ
