It was great to be back out again with our fabulous Goodgym Team at the George's/Queens Park.
First off, Maurice and Nicola did a 2 mile brisk walk - setting off at the George's and taking in what would normally be quite a scenic route - however, we were doing it in the pitch black darkness, led only by our head torches (or in my case, a phone!) so it wasn't quite so picturesque tonight! It didn't matter though, our lights were plenty bright enough to light our way and we had a lovely natter all the way around - putting the world to rights as usual!
Donna & Claire joined us for the litter pick. Again, we were in the dark once more but we all came prepared with either a head torch or the super strong goodgym lights!
We had a very productive evening collecting rubbish from around the George's and the outskirts of Queen's park. We collect a very generous 4 bags full of litter... with some interesting items as always!
Of course, as always, our evening was filled with plenty of chatter. I do love catching up with our lovely Goodgym family cos they're all awesome.
Well done team - tonight we made the streets of Crewe a little tidier once again!!

Last night was one of the hi-lights of our Goodgym calendar this year. We were getting to spend the evening with Santa, his reindeer and lots of his helpers!! Certainly not something you get to do everyday!
But the magic of the evening started before Santa even arrived – when we saw shooting stars flying across the clear night sky – a sure sign that Santa was on his way.
Once Santa had arrived, we had the thrill of being able to ride along with him on his sleigh – no word of a lie! With the Christmas music putting everyone in a jolly festive spirit, the evening was getting off to a lovely start.
Santa dropped us at the bottom of our first road and we started the task of knocking door to door to collect donations on behalf of the Round Table. The Round Table is a local organisation that does great work supporting local charities and good causes and the Santa float is something they’ve done for years – something many of us remember enjoying as children ourselves.
Donna, Phil, Maurice and Nicola spent a fantastic evening chatting to local residents, waving at the excited children, collecting donations and handing out lollipops! Not to mention the four and half miles we walked around local roads and housing estates in the process. We were blessed with dry, mild weather and great company.
Our evening didn’t end there though – local chip shop, Mick The Chip kindly supported us all with hot teas and coffees and freshly fried chips at the end of the evening – a lovely, welcome treat that we weren’t expecting at all.
I’m not sure how much money would have been raised last night but one thing’s for sure, lots of smiles, magic and fun was had by all!!
Thanks for having us Santa! See you very soon!!

Well our evening didn't quite turn out as expected but we made the best of it none the less. It was as lovely as always to see Donna, Emily & Maurice as ready and willing as always, despite the wind and the threatening rain.
After a few directional problems of finding the venue of tonight's task (a very tucked away block of flats that isn't easily visible from the road in the dark), we eventually found one another!
Tonight's task was intended to be doing some gardening for the residents of the flats but unfortunately, due to a family emergency, the task was cancelled. No problem - that wouldn't stop us from doing some good in our local community.
We split into two groups this evening - a walking group and a running group and we set off together for our evening exercise!! We took in some lovely Christmas decorations along the way as well as having a good natter and putting the world to rights as we always do.
Back together again, we collected our litter pickers and bin bags (which have now taken up residency in my car boot) and off we set onto the streets of Crewe once again to sprinkle some litter picking magic upon them!
It wasn't quite what we had planned for the evening but we still had a really enjoyable time together while collecting some decent amounts of rubbish! We didn't escape the rain but we did make a difference in Crewe tonight and that definitely can't be a bad thing.
I promise there will be no more litter picks this side of Christmas!!
Thanks for being amazing as always xxx

This wonderful bunch of lovelies were so good tonight - with a last minute change of plans due to COVID and the weather, they could so easily have bailed..... but they didn't!!
Claire, Donna, Maurice & Suzanne put on their warm gear and came out to do a group litter pick down Crewe's busiest street. Starting off at our local community college, they worked their way through the college grounds, through some more local streets and finally onto Nantwich Road - home to lots of fast food outlets and so can sometimes be a bit of a rubbish magnet.
Despite an early set back with some rather tricky bin bags, they beavered away in the cold, gathering as much rubbish as they could and they smashed the challenge to cover 2 miles of ground along the way.
Thanks for being so willing to continue with tonight's task despite difficult circumstances. I appreciate your commitment and dedication so much.
You are all truly awesome xxxx
