It's Wednesday! That can only mean one thing…. It's a Goodgym night with my lovely Goodgym friends. I really do love my Wednesday evenings, spending time with lovely people, getting some fresh air and exercise and doing something helpful for the community.
Tonight, Emily, Gill, Karen, Maurice, Nigel and Nicola met at Crewe Park and it was still daylight!! I think that's the first time it's been noticeably light at the start of a task since last year. It felt really good. Spring is in the way!! Before starting our task though, we headed out for a brisk walk around the park. It was only about a mile circular route, but it was enough to get the heart rate up and enough time to give us the chance to have a catch up with one another.
Tonight, we did a litter pick down one of the streets not too far from the park. Karen had noticed that there was a lot of litter as she had been driving to junior parkrun recently, and thought it would be a good place for us to do a tidy up. She wasn't wrong! We filled 7 ginormous bags of rubbish and if we'd had more time, I'm sure we could have quite easily filled the same again!
Once we had finished our litter pick, we headed off to Hops bar for our post pick refreshment. We had a good natter, a good laugh and some nice drinks and snacks - and I was busy having such a nice time, that I forgot to take a photograph!!!
Well done everyone, another amazing task and seven huge bags of rubbish off our streets. You're all wonderful.
Have a great week.
Lots of love, Nicola xxx

How lucky we were to be back at The Lighthouse Centre this evening.
Before setting to work with the lovely Dalton, we set off for a brisk walk around the local area. It was a quiet night this evening with the lovely Gill and Maurice. But as we always say, small, number, mighty, in effort.
Back at The Lighthouse Centre, we were greeted by the lovely Dalton who always gives us a gorgeous, welcome. Gill and Maurice set to work with the task of cleaning and sorting the kitchen. It was a rewarding job, and the shelves looked much cleaner and tidier once they’d worked their magic.
It’s always a pleasure to support this amazing church and organisation and tonight was no exception.
Thanks for having us once again, Dalton, we always appreciate you taking the time to meet us and allow us to do these jobs for you.
Well done, Gill and Maurice, another amazing task completed. You are awesome.
Have a great week. Lots of love. Nicola Xxx

It was a chilly night tonight – much cooler than it’s been for the past few days – but – there was no rain and no wind, so all was well with the world! A dry night is always a bonus on a Goodgym night, especially during the Winter months!!
Gill, Karen, Maurice & Nicola met at Motherwell for our pre-task exercise session which tonight was a brisk walk down Moreton Road to the park, down Alton Street and then back down Moreton Road to Motherwell. It was a fairly brisk walk, so definitely got the heart rate up – I was so warm that my hat, scarf and gloves all came off!
Back at the task, we were greeted with enthusiasm as always, by the lovely Kate who gave us our task for the evening. Tonight, we were helping to organise the garages that belong to Motherwell. They used to only have 1 garage and now have 3, so it was our job to re-distribute all the items between the 3 garages. Motherwell do so much wonderful work to support women and girls in our community and they collect numerous different donations, including clothes, toiletries, sanitary towels and period products etc to give out to those who need it. Tonight, we were organising all of those items to make them much more accessible. In particular, Kate wanted one whole garage dedicated to women's products in preparation for her forthcoming project... Period Dignity Cheshire.
We had a very rewarding evening getting everything sorted and we had a good chat while we were doing it (we may have also consumed a few biscuits…..!).
Well done team, you did amazing as always.
Have a wonderful week everyone. Love & big hugs. Nicola xxx

It was a delight to be back at Motherwell this evening as it had been a while since we were last there. The fact that it was an indoor task on an evening when it was minus 3 outside, was an added bonus!!!
Before getting stuck into the task, we headed out for a brisk walk – it couldn’t be anything other than brisk on a night as cold as tonight. Our pace kept us reasonably warm as we headed down to the Park, down Alton Street, back up Wistaston Road and then back to Motherwell. It was a good looped walk. We had a good natter as we walked, and it was lovely to learn a bit more about our newest member, Gill. Gill joined us for her first task just before Christmas, and it was great to welcome her back again today and chat some more.
Back at Motherwell, we were given a lovely welcome, as always by Motherwell’s founder, Kate who got us started on our job for the evening. This evening, we were tasked with assembling 6 lots of shelving to house all the school uniform donations. It was a lovely, chilled and rewarding tasks as it didn’t take long to see the shelves coming together. Maurice & Gill worked brilliantly together assembling the shelving, as did Kate & Kat. Nicola floated between both teams helping where needed and getting rid of all the rubbish.
We put together 6 lots of shelving with only one minor hiccup – a pole that got threaded and wouldn’t go together properly. Despite our best efforts, we couldn’t fix it, so Gill kindly offered to take it hope to enlist the help of her husband to fix it. Thanks Gill!
The evening ended on a high when were each given a packet of fancy Mcvitites biscuits to take home (yum!). Who’s made it home and who’s had been devoured before they’d even got off the car park…..? ;)
Well done team, a very productive night's work. Thanks Motherwell for having us. We’ve loved it as always and look forward to seeing you again soon!
Lots of love Nicola xxx
