Mr C needed a bit of help with trimming and pruning in his garden. He has a damson tree that had produced a fine crop, and there were a lot of branches overgrowing from a neighbour's garden. Gwyn and Tracey set to work and filled two bins and two bags with cuttings, clearing a way towards making the garden more accessible.

Terris, Tracey and Gwyn met Ged at Mickleover Memorial Hall for a session of painting. A big welcome to Terris on her first GoodGym good deed! We looked at the walls of the hall, and thought that we'd be able to paint one. T&T were so fast and efficient that we managed 2 and ran out of paint! Well done; what a team!

Gwyn and Tracey joined their chums at the DCF’s Monday Mates session, getting there early to set up the chairs. We were in a different building to our usual one, so Gwyn gave directions in the car park, while Tracey took the register. Everyone enjoyed tea, biscuits, wordsearches and a quiz, followed by a game of seated cricket, with the GoodGymmers on fielding duty. Once the mates had gone home, we put all the chairs back again.

Tracey and Gwyn met the team at Derbyshire Cricket Foundation for their summer (haf) holiday Holiday Activities and Food session. The weather was typically summery as expected: it was haf o hyd after all. We had a nature treasure hunt, animal encounters (with a tarantula, ball python, bearded dragon and more), a light lunch and an art session.

About to help at DCF’s holiday event for children, A. said that we needed food hygiene level 2 and arranged a course, saying that it was a brief online one. There were many, many computer problems! Noticing that the descriptions online of level 2 said that it would take over 3 hours, a start time of 08:06 seemed appropriate to finish by high noon. It took until half past seven and two emails to the course provider!
There’s 13 hours to go until the event starts …
