This week’s group run in Bath saw 16 runners come along for an 8k run to Action on Hearing Loss to help the wonderful Evan out in the extensive gardens at the Poolemead centre in Twerton.
Congratulations to everyone who raced/marshalled at Bath Running Festival on Sunday, you are all amazing!!
A few announcements before heading out in two groups alongside the river Avon to Twerton and our task destination in the wonderful gardens at Action on Hearing Loss.
Evan ‘Elp Us
Evan was pleased to see us arrive and we signed “HELLO” and “Welcome” as a group to show how talented we all are, we love to be inclusive at Goodgym Bath and all thanks to the fabulous Pascale on hand to give us a few lessons in signing. The dry ground gave us a challenge on this task but that was a good thing giving those arms an extra hard work out for 30 minutes, we aren`t softies in Bath you know. We absolutely love coming here to help out and always come away buzzing with delight considering it is one of our longer group runs.
Time Up
Goodbye and farewell to Evan (sign style) with the hope of coming along someday soon for more adventure and fun in these beautiful gardens providing a great outdoor space for the residents at the centre.
We had a Puny time
Back at the leisure centre for our stretches, Gotta love Goodgym Bath and all the wonderful work these selfless runners do in their community.
We have a community mission on Saturday if anyone is free to lend a hand at Warleigh Weir but remember you make your own way, this is not a trainer led run https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/warleigh-weir-project-guardians-day-litter-pick

Nice to have it a bit cooler this week for our 6k run to Peter Pan Pre-School to finish painting the fence before the end of term and whilst the weather is good, 15 runners came along for this task with Lucy and Emma set to meet us in Royal Victoria Park on route and Tim at the task.
A few announcements before we set off tonight with a shout out to Pascale who ran the Tenby Marathon at the weekend… Well Done!
The run out took us up around Royal Victoria Park where our lovely mum to be was waiting to join us for the remainder of the run to our task destination at Peter Pan, David was organised as ever waiting with brushes and containers to pour the fence stain into, we tackled the job in two teams to get both sides covered and this actually gave the group a great opportunity to chat away whilst getting the job done.
Time up and job done
We ran back the way we came with a few people peeling off to go straight home on the way but the rest of us arrived back at the leisure centre for a good old chit chat about the evening and tonight`s pun vote and what a tongue twister from Pascale.
You are all amazing people to spend an evening volunteering with at Goodgym Bath
A reminder that The Two Tunnels series is coming up on August 19th, so why not enter and run the coolest race in Bath http://www.relishrunningraces.com/bath-two-tunnels-railway-running-races.php
If you don`t fancy taking on the challenge then have a go at Bath Skyline Parkrun, a free timed 5k run every Saturday morning, worth getting up for the views alone http://www.parkrun.org.uk/bathskyline/
Social drinks after next weeks group run.. Cheers 🍻

What a scorcher for this evenings group run, 21 energetic runners turned up despite the heat to take part in one of two tasks tonight with a shorter route option. The warm up was more for the muscles than taking our temperatures up and the theme for our headcount was all about ice lollies, that was to psychologically cool them all down
WELCOME to Emma, Emily (EMINEM) and Paul who will be launching Goodgym Swindon in August.
WELCOME Oliver, James and Euan to their first session at Goodgym Bath and lovely to have Tim back with us.
lovely to have CLO from GG BRISTOL tonight.
We split up in to two teams to go our separate ways. Steph taking the lead out to Peter Pan nursery with her team of 9 with PASCALE back marking and EMMA taking a team of 12 to Cleveland pools with ALISON covering the rear.
Task One--Painting the fence at Peter Pan Nursery
A slightly longer run to task number one and although it was equally important it was less physical meaning the sweat was more about the run than the workload painting outside but we did a fabulous job and promised to finish it off next month. We had a good old chat whilst working about various things including Love Island...Shame on us!
Task Two- Grass cutting and weeding at Cleveland pools
The run to Cleveland pools was the shorter option but they had a treat in store for them with the chance to develop a new skill, scything under the watchful eye of Steve who is an expert in the field (pardon the pun) gathering up of the grass and composting it along with any weeds that need removing. Widcombe Junior school will be visiting in the morning and they want it looking at its finest for the VIPs and my team didn't let Sally down with an amazing effort in the heat and they couldn't even able to jump into the pool, although Alison and Tim saved lots of little froglets, Swindon’s Emma had the tiniest broom ever to sweep up the scythed grass, and they learned about a Victorian man who used to jump from 100 feet (?) into the pool... not 100% sure on that fact though! maybe from a tree?
Time to finish off and get together again
we all agreed to arrive back to the leisure centre at 7:55 prompt for a stretch and chat about pun options for one or both tasks combined. The Pan team had to speed it up after getting carried away but made it back as the clock struck eight.
Well done everyone for working so hard in hot conditions and making another Tuesday evening such good fun.
CONGRATULATIONS to Ollie completing the 85 mile Isle of Man Parish walk and GOOD LUCK to Alison for her Cotswold way 100k challenge this weekend...Amazing stuff!!
A reminder for those not able to make The Goodgym Olympics, between Friday 22nd June to Thursday 28th June find a 1km route you would like to run, this can be anywhere, local park, up and down your road, around your garden, on your way to a mission, on a group run as long as it’s a 1km its on, and go on and run it, all the details are available right here https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/goodgym-olmpics-2018-nationwide-race-open-to-all
